Does Winamp remind you of your college time? Yeah, it’s one of the oldest and most relied upon pieces of software in the late nineties and early aughts.
However, the AOL-owned digital music file player and visualizer for Windows, will be officially discontinued as of Dec. 20, according to an announcement made Wednesday by AOL.
The message, appearing on the Winamp.com website, states:
Winamp.com and associated web services will no longer be available past Dec. 20, 2013. Additionally, Winamp Media players will no longer be available for download … Thanks for supporting the Winamp community for over 15 years.
Although plenty of online music consumption alternatives are available nowadays, the closing news of Winamp which has accompanied us for the past 15 years does provoke a sense of nostalgia.
