Do we have room for another new smartphone brand from China in Malaysia? Yes of course! The more the merrier, right?
Say hello to Kenxinda.
Before you say “not another Oppo or Vivo”, Kenxinda takes on a different direction from the others in that they have their eyes on the mid-low end market. This may sound surprising to you but Kenxinda has in fact been in existence since 2003 so rest assured that they are a established name and not just another new player jumping into the hype bandwagon (if you know what we mean). Outside of China, Kenxinda has already set foot on several countries such as Italy, India, Dubai, South Africa, Mexico, Brazil and Pakistan among others. Their next step is to spread their wings to the lucrative Southeast Asia markets with Malaysia being earmarked as the first one.
They officially announced their presence here by launching a slew of products and they are not just limited to feature phones and smartphones only as we also see tablets, a smartwatch and even powerbanks. As expected, the prices are eye-poppingly low but then again, they are not here to compete in the high-price category. To give you a perspective on how low they are priced, their most expensive product here (which is a smartphone) costs merely RM459.
The Kenxinda A6 which costs just RM459
Yes, we are talking about sub-RM500 pricings here.
Granted, their phones and tablets are nothing groundbreaking specs-wise but if you’re in the market for super affordable phones that can do what their much higher-priced counterparts do (albeit less spectacular and flashy), these are the phones you might just be looking for.
The product which gets the most attention though is the Kenxinda S-Watch, which is not surprising considering its unconventional size. This curious-looking smartwatch not only serves as a notification relay from smartphones like most of the smartwatches out there but you can also make and answer calls directly on it as you can insert a SIM Card into it. It even has FM Radio built-in to boot (nifty). The S-Watch is priced at RM299 a pop but from now until January 2016, it will be sold at a promotional price of RM199 which also comes with a free Bluetooth headset worth RM99.
Then there are the powerbanks. Ignoring the lookalike factor with a certain popular brand, the Kenxinda powerbanks offer three different power capacities – 5,000mAh, 10,400mAh and 15,000mAh, which are priced at RM69, RM99 and RM139 respectively.
Besides product, Kenxinda also strive to make good of their after-sales service with 1-to-1 exchange policy. Though they are still very new in the local market, they already have a wide distribution channel with 15 distributors in every state in Malaysia, including East Malaysia. There will also be concept stores in various parts of the country with confirmed locations include Plaza Low Yat in KL, Queensbay Mall in Penang and Dataran Pahlawan Mall in Malacca.
To create more awareness about their brand, Kenxinda is currently embarking on a roadshow journey across Malaysia that will see them make stops from the north to the south so do check them out if you spot them!
