Google revealed the specs of Glass

Google Glass is officially official as Google has revealed the device’s technical specs.

The device features adjustable nosepads in two sizes and durable frame to fit any face. It boasts a 640 x 360 display whose resolution is “equivalent of a 25-inch high definition screen from eight feet away”. It also includes a 5-megapixel camera that can shoot video at 720p and audio that is transmitted through a bone conduction transducer.

For connectivity, the Google Glass features Wifi 802.11b/g and bluetooth. It comes with 12GB of usable memory, and can sync with Google cloud storage which contributes to 16GB Flash in total. According to Google, the battery its sufficient to one full day of typical use, however some features like Hangouts and video recording are more power hungry. Glass is chargeable through a microUSB cable and charger. In terms of compatibility, Glass will work with any Bluetooth-compatible phone.Its MyGlass companion app which enables GPS and SMS messaging requires Android 4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) or higher.

Besides the technical specs, Google also revealed the limitation of the device. Google has made it absolutely clear that you shouldn’t wear Glass while scuba diving, for example. The Glass device or battery shall not come in contact with liquids as liquids can get into the electronic components, leading to corrosion.

The Google Glass is prohibited for children under 13 as it could harm developing vision. Also, kids might break Glass or hurt themselves,  and Google’s terms of service don’t permit those under 13 to register a Google account. The Glass can’t protect your eyes from flying debris, balls, sharp objects, or chemical explosions. Using Glass while operating heavy or inherently dangerous equipment, or engaging in physical sports, could distract you, cause Glass to impact your eye, and lead you to harm yourself or others.
