Still in mourning over the death of short-lived mobile sensation Flappy Bird? We have some news that might just perk you up.
Rovio, maker of the original avian-themed hit Angry Birds, is gearing up to release an all new mobile game this fall. Dubbed Angry Birds Stella, the game will feature a new lineup of Angry Birds characters, including a pretty pink-feathered protagonist and her friends, the Finnish developer announced on Thursday.
“Stella may be pink, but she’s definitely one of the Angry Birds, a fierce and a feisty character with a great group of friends,” Rovio wrote in a blog post. “Of course no story is complete without some interesting (fr)enemies!”
Details of the new title are scant, but Rovio said it will let players step inside a new part of the Angry Birds universe that has never been seen before.
“There will be plenty of fun and adventure, but the bunch of passionate pals will also have to deal with some serious issues in order to protect their friendship and the environment they live in,” Rovio said. “Luckily, Stella and her friends are good at finding creative solutions!”
Avid Angry Birds fans might already be familiar with Stella, who also goes by the alias “Pink Bird” and first made her debut in Angry Birds Seasons back in 2012. Alongside the new game, Rovio will have a whole lineup of Angry Birds Stella-themed merchandise, including books, toys, and “other fun stuff.”
“What is coming exactly? Well, you’ll have to wait for a bit longer to find that out!” the company teased.
